Guidance & Oversight

The Board of Directors for Fermilab was established by Fermi Forward Discovery Group, LLC.

The Board’s role is to provide guidance, oversight, direction, and advice to laboratory management with respect to scientific and technical issues, long-range objectives, budget and facility plans, cooperative research and development, outreach, and technology transfer as well as personnel and staffing matters.

The Fermi Forward Discovery Group Board of Directors is chaired by University of Chicago President Paul Alivisatos, and board members include prominent senior leaders from academia, industry, and past government service who have the expertise to assure performance under the contract and enable the laboratory to achieve its scientific and operational mission.
